About Us
Artists at Work use creativity to connect with others and make the world a more beautiful place. We believe that art has the power to inspire, challenge, and uplift, and we are committed to using our work to make a positive impact on our community and continue our role in making a lovely and vibrant Singapore.
Our artist, Rico Ngim Kum Thong, trained in Fine Art and graduated from RMIT with a Bachelor of Arts (major in Sculpture). Formerly Sculptural Assistance (from 1995–2000) to the late Brother Joseph McNally, the Founder of LaSalle College of the Arts Rico Ngim managed and ran Bro. Joseph Workshop. This was an unprecedented opportunity for Rico to learn and fabricate Sculptures. From what he adopted and learned from Bro. Joseph's methods of making bronze casting, metal, glass, wood, and stone sculptures But he also learned a uniquely signature method of creating sculptures from Bro. Joseph. What is so interesting is that by using ten thousand years of imported wood from Ireland and combining a few different materials like ancient ceramic pottery and glass, Rico had five to six wonderful years of learning with his mentor, Brother Joseph McNally. His mentor, Brother Joseph McNally, encouraged him to set up his own Workshop to continue to fabricate Brother Jo. At the same time, Rico can continue to make his own sculpture.
